- Elisabeth was born in Düsseldorf, Germany, to a German father and an American mother. Elisabeth's mother, from Memphis, Tennessee, was of three quarters Italian descent, with the rest of her ancestry being Irish and English. Elisabeth's parents moved to New York during her early childhood, and she was raised there.
- Her father, Eberhard, is a partner at the law firm of Duane Morris LLP New York. Her mother, Lisa, once wrote for the soap, The Guiding Light (1952). The two divorced when Elisabeth was 8 or 9.
- Wrote an unpublished novel about a 21-year-old woman in 1911 Scotland, whose husband committed suicide.
- She made Maxim magazine's "Hot 100" list in 2002, voted one of the most watchable women in entertainment.
