Interesting Facts about Peter Jones
- When casting for the radio series for "The Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy" radio show began, it was requested that the voice of The Book have a "Peter Jonesy sort of voice". After three or four people (including Michael Palin) had turned it down, the search for the Peter Jonesy sort of voice narrowed in on Peter Jones himself. He said numerous times that he was quite bewildered by "Hitch Hiker's" itself, and even more by the cult following it gathered.
- Prior to the broadcast debut of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (1981), he filmed an "introduction" sequence which was used for a test-screening of episode 1. This is the only time he appeared on-screen in the Hitch Hiker's series. The video is included as a supplement on the DVD release.
- He had two sons, including Bill Dare; and a daughter, Selena Carey-Jones, with his wife, Jeri.
- His wife, Jeri Sauvinet, was an American theater actress. She played Miss Rufford in "Lady Windermere's Fan" comedy play, written by Oscar Wilde.
